Rabbi Yisrael Meir Lau, addressing this year’s March of the Living in Auschwitz, Poland, urged Jewish youth not to forsake their heritage. Now Jews can come home to Israel, he stressed.
A child survivor, orphaned and liberated at the age of 8, Rabbi Yisrael Meir Lau – Chief Rabbi of Tel Aviv, former Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi of the State of Israel and chairman of the Yad Vashem Council – urged Jewish youth to remain connected to their beautiful heritage.
Rabbi Lau told the more-than-10,000 young participants to remember the last words of the Jewish Holocaust victims: “Remember You Are a Jew!”
Anti-Semitism is still here, but today Jews have the privilege to come home to Israel, he said, quoting biblical sources related to the Jewish return to the Land of Israel.
Watch and listen to Rabbi Lau’s profound words.
