ACT NOW! Demand Polish President Veto Immoral Holocaust Reparations Law
Auschwitz

Don’t let the Polish government avoid its moral and legal responsibility to Holocaust survivors and their descendants!

A law passed on Wednesday by the Polish parliament prevents former property owners, Jews and non-Jews, including Holocaust survivors and their descendants, from regaining property seized during the Holocaust or the Communist era.

At stake are the homes and businesses of Jewish families who were wiped out in the Holocaust. After World War II, the Communist government nationalized those properties.

Communism collapsed more than 30 years ago, and yet Poland is the only member of the European Union that has not legislated the restitution of money and property seized by the Nazis or Communists.

Public officials around the world have denounced the law as “outrageous thievery,” which “damages both the memory of the Holocaust and the rights of its victims.”

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken condemned the legislation and called on President Andrsej Duda to veto it. Duda, who has 21 days to decide, is widely expected to sign it. The new Polish legislation “borders on Holocaust denial,” Israel’s Foreign Ministry tweeted on Thursday.

Tell President Andrzej Duda that Poland has a moral and legal responsibility to Holocaust survivors and their descendants and that he must veto this law.
