3 Palestinian Terrorists Wound 2 Israeli Policewomen in Jerusalem Attack

Damascus Gate attack

In yet another attack, three Palestinian terrorists opened fire at and stabbed Israeli security forces outside Jerusalem’s Old City.

Three Palestinian terrorists shot, stabbed and wounded two Israeli policewomen at the entrance to Jerusalem’s Old City on Wednesday.

A police spokesman stated that the three terrorists arrived at the Damascus Gate and aroused the suspicion of a Border Police unit securing the area, the site of multiple recent terrorist attacks.

As policemen checked their ID cards, one of them pulled out a Karl Gustav machine pistol from his coat and opened fire on them, while another drew a knife and stabbed the troops.

The security forces responded rapidly, shooting and killing two terrorists and wounding a third.

Medical teams provided emergency treatment and worked to resuscitate the two victims, one critically wounded and the other with serious wounds.

There are reports that Palestinians standing nearby the attack site tried to hinder the medical teams’ efforts to provide the much needed treatment.

The victims were subsequently evacuated to Hadassah Mount Scopus hospital for further treatment.

In the meantime, police sappers dismantled improvised explosive devices the terrorists were carrying.

Commenting on the incident, a police spokesman said that the forces again “served as a protective vest” for the residents of Jerusalem, and that their swift response prevented a much larger and deadly attack.

The Damascus Gate has become one of the most dangerous spots in Israel, and is heavily patrolled by Israeli security forces. The last attack at the site occurred Saturday night when two Palestinian terrorists stabbed and lightly wounded an Israeli. The two were later caught.

This incident was the latest in a long series of near-daily Palestinian terror attacks, which have plagued Israelis over the course of the past four-and-a-half months, claiming the lives of 29 victims and wounding some 300.
