2,140 Year Old Ancient Jewish Treasures Unearthed

Archaeologists in Israel on Tuesday were astounded to come across a cache of ancient coins used during the Hasmonean period. According to Dr. Donald Tzvi Ariel, head of the Israel Antiquities Authority’s Coin Department, the coins are in fact a proper collection, with coins dating to the years 135-126 BCE, and not merely a person’s savings. The ongoing dig is taking place ahead of plans for construction near the city of Modi’in.
