VIDEO: US Threatens to Leave UN Human Rights Council over Anti-Israel Bias

The US is calling on the United Nations human rights body to drop its “obsession with Israel,” or the US may be forced to withdraw its membership.

Addressing the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) on Wednesday, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Erin Barclay said that “the obsession with Israel is the largest threat to this Council’s credibility.”

“It limits the good we can accomplish by making a mockery of this Council,” she said, reiterating President Donald Trump’s vow to oppose any effort to delegitimate or isolate Israel.

Washington is therefore reconsidering its future engagement with the Council “with an eye towards reform,” Barclay stated.

While threatening to leave the UNHRC over its bias against the democratic State of Israel, Barclay stressed that the US will continue to monitor the serious human rights abuses around the world.
