The Jewish community of Aleppo was renown for many centuries. In fact, in the 12th century, Maimonides, one of the greatest Jewish philosophers, medical doctors and Torah scholars, praised the Jews of Aleppo for their devotion to Judaism and the study of Torah more than any other Jewish community.
Things changed overnight after the birth of the modern State of Israel.
