VIDEO: A Sukkah Is Built!

Building a sukkah

Discover how a modern Sukkah is built and check out what it looks like inside!

A Sukkah is a temporary hut constructed for use during the week-long Jewish festival of Sukkot. It is topped with branches and often decorated.

Jews sit in a sukkah during the Feast of Tabernacles to commemorate Israelites’ wandering in the wilderness for 40 years after they were freed from slavery in Egypt.

During Sukkot, Jews eat, sleep and spend time in the sukkah with family and friends.
