In a terror attack on Wednesday at the Old City’s Jaffa Gate, two terrorists stabbed and seriously wounded three civilians, according to police reports.

The two terrorists were shot and neutralized by Border Policewomen at the scene. One terrorist was killed immediately. The second died later of his wounds.

“This was a serious terror attack,” said Shimi Grossman, a first responder at the scene, said in a statement. “Two terrorists stabbed two Israelis at the entrance to the Jaffa Gate. Both terrorists were neutralized by the security forces who were in the area. One Israeli was badly injured, the other one lightly to moderately injured and both were evacuated to hospital. A team of ZAKA volunteers are working to clear the terror site.”

Two of the victims are in serious condition, while a third, who was accidentally hit by police gunfire, is in critical condition. An eyewitness to the attack told Israel Radio that she saw one of the victims struggling with his attacker on the ground. The attacker stabbed him multiple times. In a video posted to Twitter, paramedics can be seen transferring the injured to ambulances among the panicked crowd.

The Old City of Jerusalem has been the scene of multiple violent attacks since the current wave of terror began in October. Most attacks, however, have taken place around the Damascus Gate, which is the main entrance to the Muslim Quarter of the Old City. In contrast, the Jaffa Gate, located less than a ten minutes’ walk from Jerusalem’s bustling city center, is used most commonly by tourists and Israelis.
