Report: Germany Spied on Israeli Prime Minister’s Office

The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office is among a number of targets of Germany spying activity on allies, reports indicate.

Germany has been spying on the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office for several years, Der Spiegel Magazine reported Saturday.

According to the report, the BND (German Federal Intelligence Service) has been spying on a number of allies, including Israel. Other targets are NASA, the US Air Force, the US State Department, EU embassy employees, UN agencies, OPEC and others.

This is not the first time that BND spying activity on allies was noted. In 2013, BND President Gerhard Schindler affirmed that the agency would cease spying on EU member states and NATO. The Der Spiegel report, however, indicates that the spying activity has continued.

In contrast, it was Israeli intelligence that warned of pending terror attacks in Germany in November, thereby saving thousands of lives.

In January, it was revealed that the US and UK had been spying on Israel for the past 18 years, watching for a potential strike on Iran and keeping tabs on Israel’s drone technology.
