NEHEMIAH 9:23

This verse comparing the Children of Israel to the “stars in the heavens” is not meant to be taken literally, for the Jewish people are far from the largest religion or people in the world. Our Sages explain that the comparison to the stars refers to the permanence of the heavenly bodies. As the stars never cease, so too the Jewish people and the connection to the Land never waivers.
