Israeli Map Technology Saves Lives on the Battlefield

The IDF unveiled the Hunter system, software developed during the current war that detects threats in real time and sends signals to soldiers.
It’s already been confirmed that the Hunter System–which is called a Google Maps of the battlefield–has saved a number of lives.
The Hunter System coordinates people manning cells with soldiers on the battlefield, and allows them to see threats before and as they unfold.
In the cells, IDF representatives from intelligence, air force, and fire control units process information and send alerts to soldiers in the field who will decide how to respond.
Lieutenant E said of the Hunter system, “Imagine Google Maps software—but for the battlefield in Gaza.”
He continued, “The system gathers indications of threats and allows users to receive information about them,”
The technology began its development before the war, but after October 7th, there was an urgency to bring the technology to its completion.
The software allows soldiers to see drone launches, rocket launches and terrorist activities as they happen.
Information about the threats is communicated through sensors and combined with what the IDF staff in the cells already know about the situation.
“Many times, we saw events happening in real-time pop up in the system, and immediately, a force jumped to the scene to neutralize them,” Lieutenant E said.
He continued, “The ideal goal is to add more attack features so everyone [within the army] can access them.”
In addition to the Hunter System, the IDF has been increasingly using Artificial Intelligence or AI on the battlefield.
AI technology can make the decision-making process faster and more efficient, for instance, in determining whether a person or vehicle approaching is an enemy.
AI is also useful in providing alerts such as sensing a missile attack before conventional technology picks up on it.
