Israelis can sleep easy at night, knowing their air defense capabilities will keep them safe from Iranian aggression, says a senior engineer at Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI). Inbal Kreiss expressed confidence in her company’s products Saturday, The Times of Israel reported.

Speaking at a cultural event in Beersheba, Kreiss said, “We are developing some of the the most advanced systems designed to give the fullest most and hermetic protection possible in the face of this kind of threat.” IAI manufactures civilian and military aircraft and other products.

“The Iranians should of course be worried by Israel’s defense capabilities,” she said. “We are the leader in this type of technology.”

“We are working to develop these defense systems in order to protect ourselves,” Kreiss added. “We’re constantly trying to stay ahead of the newest technologies.”

Asked by the event moderator about Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s expressed concerns regarding a potentially nuclear Iran, Kreiss assured the audience lightly that there is nothing to worry about.

“Netanyahu can count to ‘one’ before going to bed each night,” she joked.

Kreiss is IAI’s Deputy General Manager of Systems Missiles & Space Division and is leading the development of Israel’s Arrow 3, the country’s newest anti-ballistic missile interceptor system, in conjunction with the US. Under development since 2008, it is meant to intercept intercontinental ballistic missiles while they travel above the atmosphere.

The Arrow 3, along with Iron Dome and David’s Sling,  is part of Israel’s multi-tiered defense against incoming rockets and missiles, from close-range weapons fired out of Lebanon or Gaza to longer-range threats from Iran. Successfully tested in December, Arrow 3 is capable of intercepting weapons bearing chemical, biological or nuclear warheads while they are still close to their launch sites.
