Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Tuesday that on top of the four peace deals signed in recent month with Arab countries, “four more peace agreements on the way.”
“I pledged to take care of the citizens of Israel and I do so with a deep mission. I brought vaccines and four peace agreements, there are four more on the way,” Netanyahu said in an interview in the studios of Ynet, the online arm of the Israeli newspaper Yediot Aharonot.
Netanyahu would not reveal the names of the countries, but he did say that the reason he missed a recent Likud party rally in the city of Ashkelon was because he had to take a 45-minute call from a “regional leader” and to stand at the side of the road because the phone reception inside his armored limousine was not good.
There is speculation about which countries are involved, but Jared Kushner may have already revealed the four. In an article last weekend in the Wall Street Journal. The son-in-law and top adviser to former President Donald Trump claimed that they are Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman and Mauritania.
Normalization with Saudi Arabia is already on the horizon, after the kingdom changed its policy to allow Israeli air traffic to use its airspace, Kushner noted. The unofficial strengthening of ties between Israel and Saudi Arabia in recent years led to the historic meeting in Saudi Arabia last November between Netanyahu and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
“The table is set, Biden should seize the opportunity,” Kushner wrote, encouraging the US president to continue the momentum set in place with the Abraham Accords that were signed last year at the White House.
Under the Abraham Accords, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco established diplomatic relations with Israel. With the precendents there, Kosovo, one of the few Muslim countries in Europe, established an embassy in Jerusalem.
“The geopolitical earthquake that began with the Abrahamic Accords has not yet ended,” Kushner said.
