DEUTERONOMY 3:25

In this verse Moses demonstrates his quintessential love for the Land of Israel. Though God already forbade him from setting foot in the Promised Land, he pleads with the Lord to change His mind. The words “let me go over, I pray Thee, and see the good land that is beyond the Jordan” highlight the motivation behind Moses’s request. It was not arrogance nor a desire for power that led to his request, as he did not ask to lead the people into the Land of Israel. He simply wanted to see the Land, to breathe its air, to experience its goodness. Though Moses wanted desperately to step foot into the Land of Israel, he could not. A visit to the Land of Israel has never been as easy as it is today. And the love for the Land espoused by Moses inspires hundreds of thousands of tourists to visit Israel each year.
