African Nations Meet with Netanyahu at UN, Eager to Benefit from Israeli Hi-Tech

African nations and other developing countries around the globe are eager to partner with Israel and to benefit from the start-up nation’s advanced technology.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday held a special meeting with over 15 heads of state and representatives from African countries on the sidelines of the 71st United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Discussing the advantages of partnership with the Jewish state, Netanyahu stressed the importance of Israel’s advanced technology, including in communications, medicine, agriculture and education. He noted that Israel wants to share its technology with African countries.

“We want you to benefit from the fruits of the tree of knowledge we have planted, Netanyahu stated. “We are your partners.”

The African leaders said they were grateful for Israel’s cooperation in so many fields, adding that it would benefit the citizens of Africa and improve their standard of living significantly.

Following the meeting, Netanyahu and his wife Sara, along with Israeli Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon, attended an Israeli-African summit at UN headquarters, headed by the Israeli leader, titled “Israeli Technology and Innovation for Africa.”

Israeli technological firms and start-ups will present their innovative solutions to over 15 presidents, prime ministers and ministers from Africa and developing countries, and to dozens of ambassadors, senior UN officials and private sector representatives from around the world.

Netanyahu was the first Israeli prime minister in decades to visit Africa over two months ago. He visited Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda and Ethiopia in an effort to improve and strengthen Israel’s relations with those countries.
