VIDEO: Unearthed Relics Reveal Names From First Temple Era

Relics from First Temple period

Jerusalem archaeologists have uncovered a rare collection of seals from the First Temple period in Jerusalem, bearing names of significance.

Dozens of First Temple-era government seals were unearthed in excavations by the Israel Antiquities Authority in the City of David National Park in Jerusalem, shedding light on which Jewish leaders’ names were given to children at that time.

The seals, bearing names that are the same or similar to biblical figures, bring further evidence that after the exile of the ten tribes of Israel, refugees arrived in Jerusalem from the northern kingdom, many of them attaining high-level administrative positions.
