Popular Israeli singer Hanan Ben Ari’s new video features images of deserted streets but delivers a much-needed message of hope.
The new video from Hanan Ben Ari shows empty beaches, shuttered stores, and trains and buses with only a handful of passengers, images that communicate the ravages of the coronavirus on Israeli society.
While it is heartbreaking to see once-vibrant locales in the Holy Land desolate and gray, the song reminds us that virus lockdown has shown the world how vital human contact is, leaving us yearning for the weddings and packed parks we once took for granted.
“We almost lost ourselves, we almost stopped feeling,” sings Ben Ari. The song ends on an optimistic note, hoping “that it will all be over soon,” but pondering whether we will “be the same” on the other side of the coronavirus pandemic.
