An Israeli gastroenterologist and emergency medical volunteer invented a new intubation technique after witnessing profound difficulties with previous methods.
A volunteer with United Hatzalah emergency medical services, Dr. Ishay Benuri set out to change the practice of emergency airway management.
He was inspired to improve the technique after rushing to the scene of a deadly attack in Jerusalem in November 2014, where he encountered difficulties intubating a severely injured victim.
His motto: Every failure or tragedy is an opportunity.
Click below and see the challenges Benuri and others have faced when trying to save lives as well as the interesting new medical technology that he invented.
