Three wounded in central Israel as Hamas fires massive barrage

A direct rocket impact in the Samaria community of Alfei Menashe destroyed a home.

Palestinian terrorists in the Gaza Strip launched a massive barrage of rockets at central Israel on Tuesday afternoon, sending more than a million Israelis running for shelter.

Hamas took responsibility for the attack, confirming in a statement that it fired a “heavy barrage towards the Tel Aviv area.”

At least three people sustained injuries, the Magen David Adom emergency medical service reported. In Holon, south of Tel Aviv, one person was moderately wounded, and one was lightly injured.

In the nearby city of Be’er Yaakov, one person sustained light injuries.

Meanwhile, a direct rocket impact in the western Samaria community of Alfei Menashe destroyed a residential structure. The home’s three residents, including a woman in her 70s, had entered the safe room and were unharmed, MDA said.

Some users of the Israel Defense Forces Home Front Command smartphone application experienced delays in receiving alerts.

Hamas terrorists killed at least 1,400 Israelis and wounded more than 4,500 in a massive offensive launched from Gaza on Oct. 7, which included the firing of thousands of rockets at Israel and the infiltration of the Jewish state by terrorist forces.

The IDF has not provided exact data on the total number of terrorist rocket launches from Gaza since the start of the war.

According to figures published by Israel’s Government Press Office on Sunday, the Iron Dome air-defense system intercepted more than 1,100 rockets. Some 550 misfired and struck inside Gaza, and over 400 scored hits inside Israel. Many more hit open areas and so were not intercepted.

Also on Tuesday, the IDF identified three senior Hamas terrorists killed in overnight strikes. One was Abed al-Rahman, deputy commander of the Nuzirat Battalion, a participant in the Oct. 7 attack on Kibbutz Be’eri.

Another was Khalil Mehjez, deputy commander of Hamas’s Shati Battalion; and the third was Khalil Tetri, deputy commander of the Sheikh Radwan Battalion.
