In their effort to promote the narrative that Israel is the home of the ancient indigenous Palestinian people who have been illegally displaced by Western Jews, the Arabs have attempted to rewrite history.
There never was a Jewish presence in Israel, never was a Jewish Temple, the Palestinian roots go back to the ancient Philistines or Jebusites, and Jesus was a Palestinian. This may convince a postmodern, gullible world, where everyone is entitled to construct his own personal truths and reality, but historical facts and archeological finds say the opposite.
While no relics of an ancient Palestinian civilization have ever been uncovered, thousands of relics from various stages of Jewish civilization in the Land have. Excavations in Israel have discovered almost three hundred early Israelite villages, the ruins of Jericho, the City of David near Mount Zion, the Hasmonean city of Gamla in the Golan, a Maccabean-era fortress in Jerusalem, the Herodian city of Caeserea, the Galilean cities of Capernaum, Korazim, Cana, and Beit Zaid of the Gospels, a fourth-century synagogue in Galilee, the Talmudic-era village in Qatzrin, Herod’s fortress on Masada, and the remains of the priestly Kathros family house from the Great Revolt of 70 CE, to name a few.
The tombs of David’s son Absalom, Zechariah, Hasmonian rulers, and hundreds of other First- and Second-Temple tombs stand on the slopes of the Mount of Olives and Mount Scopus. The ossuary of the high priest Caiaphas who condemned Jesus, and the sarcophagus of Herod have been found. Many Jewish ritual baths from the First and Second Temple Eras have been found. Hundreds of official seals have been recovered, including those of characters mentioned in the book of Jeremiah. Six Assyrian stele referencing such kings of Israel as Jehu, Ahab, Joash, and Menahem, and Babylonian tablets documenting the Judean exile, even listing the food served to the Judean king Jeconiah have been unearthed. Coins minted by the Maccabean and Bar Kochba regimes, and the royal seal of King Hezekiah have been recovered. There is even an inscription in the tomb of the Assyrian king Sennacherib in which he boasts, “as for Hezekiah, the Judean… I locked him up within Jerusalem, his royal city, like a bird in a cage.”
Jerusalem is mentioned 767 times in the Bible, and not once in the Koran. Nor is Palestine. In “A Brief Guide of the Haram El-Sharif” published in 1925 by the Muslim Waqf it says of the Temple Mount, “Its identity with the site of Solomon’s Temple is beyond dispute. This, too, is the spot, according to universal belief, on which David built there an altar unto the Lord, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings.” In recent years the Waqf has been illegally excavating under the Temple Mount to destroy any evidence of the Temples. They have carted away and dumped in the Kidron Valley thousands of tons of earth containing invaluable relics and artifacts. Bar Ilan archaeologists transferred nearly seventy truckloads of rubble from the garbage dump to the Emek Zurim National Park and recovered pottery from the bronze age and First Temple Period, as well as over one hundred ancient coins. Israel confirms the Bible, and the Bible confirms Israel.
As for Jesus, the Gospels tell us that he was a descendant of King David, lived as an Orthodox Jew, taught in the Temple, observed the Sabbath, Passover, Tabernacles, and even Hannukah, fulfilled the Jewish prophecies of the Messiah, and inaugurated the new covenant of Jeremiah 31:31. Not much of a Palestinian. Please pray for, bless, defend, and support the nation of Israel.
