Palestinians Name Youth Camp After Terrorist Who Led Murder of 37 Israelis

Palestinian education to terrorism

In yet another example of Palestinian incitement at educational and cultural events, a youth camp was named in honor of the leader of a mass-casualty terror attack.

The PLO’s (Palestine Liberation Organization) Supreme Council for Youth and Sports announced the naming a youth camp “Brothers of Dalal” after terrorist Dalal Mughrabi.

In 1978, Mughrabi led the Coastal Road massacre, in which Palestinian terrorists hijacked a bus and killed 37 Israeli civilians, including 12 children, and wounding over 70. It was one of the most horrific terror attacks in Israeli history.

Ramallah District Governor Ramallah Laila Ghannam, a Palestinian Authority (PA) official, praised the initiative for “remembering the pure-hearted Martyrs.”

“Dr. Ghannam welcomed efforts to hold a camp named after Martyr Dalal Mughrabi,” the PLO Supreme Council for Youth and Sports wrote on its Facebook page last week. “She praised the creative initiative and its goals, and particularly everything connected to remembering the pure-hearted Martyrs… She also ordered all of the parties involved to do all that is necessary so that the solidarity rally will take place in a fashion worthy of Martyr Mughrabi, her comrades (i.e., the other terrorists participating in the 1978 Coastal Road massacre), and all of Palestine’s Martyrs.”

“It is far from surprising that the PLO Council for Youth is naming a youth camp after a terrorist murderer, as the council is headed by terror supporter Jibril Rajoub, who explicitly promotes and endorses terror,” Palestinian Media Watch (PMW), which monitors Palestinian incitement to terrorism through its media, stated.

This is also not the first time the council has named a youth camp after a terrorist, nor is it the first time Rajoub has been involved in an event honoring a murderer.

PMW has documented numerous instances in which Palestinians abused educational events, including summer camps and school plays, to educate the younger generation to hate Jews and seek Israel’s destruction.

For instance, following the most recent wave of Palestinian terror attacks, the PLO Council and the PA Ministry of Education’s Jerusalem Education Directorate named a summer camp after Baha Alyan, murderer of three Israelis on a Jerusalem bus.

In December 2015, Rajoub sponsored a table tennis tournament named after Muhannad Halabi, a murderer of two Israelis in Jerusalem’s Old City.

Ghannam also has a history of glorifying and supporting terrorists. In February 2015, the municipality of Philadelphia, PA, withdrew an honorary award it had previously bestowed on her in response to PMW documentation of her terror support.

“The way the Palestinian Authority educates its children will determine if there can be peace in the future,” PMW stated. “PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas repeatedly professes to foreign audiences his desire for peace between Israel and a Palestinian state living side by side. However, with the prevalence of this type of hate and terror promotion, PA schools themselves are a great impediment to peace.”

Petition to the United States and European Union

We demand that all funding of the PA be stopped immediately. The brutal murder of Israelis committed by Palestinian terrorists throughout Israel is the latest result of ongoing PA incitement against Israeli citizens. Funding the PA means funding terror.
