The well-documented history of Arab rejectionism is largely ignored by “progressives” since it does not fit into their narrative of Arabs as perpetual “victims” and Israel as the “villain.”

US Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib recently made headlines for falsifying the history of the Holocaust and the reestablishment of the State of Israel.
However, Tlaib also falsified the Arab-Israeli conflict by blaming Israel for the lack of peace and whitewashing well-documented Arab aggression and rejection of a peaceful two-state solution.
When asked why she is an advocate of the so-called one-state solution, Tlaib blamed Israel and the Netanyahu government:
“I didn’t give it up,” she said of the two-state solution. “[Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu and his party gave it up, and the Israeli government gave it up.”
While this false narrative may resonate with the “progressive” worldview, it is nevertheless completely detached from reality. While the entire land of Israel historically belonged to the Jewish people, Israelis have nevertheless frequently embraced territorial compromise if it leads to genuine peace.
By contrast, the Arab side has frequently rejected any two-state solution. The reason is not because of a dispute concerning specific borders. Israel’s enemies oppose the existence of a Jewish nation-state within any borders. This is the reason why the Arab leadership rejected the British Peel Commission’s two-state solution in 1937, the UN Partition Plan in 1947, Camp David in 2000 and all other peace proposals for the Arab-Israeli conflict.
However, the well-documented history of Arab rejectionism is largely ignored by “progressives” since it does not fit into their narrative of Arabs as perpetual “victims” and Israel as the “villain.”
‘Liberating’ Tel Aviv and Haifa
Tlaib also criticized Israel for building walls – to protect civilians from terrorists – and expanding Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria.
The “liberal” idea that a Jew-free Judea and Samaria would somehow pave the path to peace is pure fiction. On the eve of the Six Day War in 1967, when Israel was attacked by her Arab neighbors, not a single Jew lived in Judea and Samaria.
During the period 1948-1967, when the region of Judea and Samaria was in Arab hands, late PLO leader Yasser Arafat’s Fatah terrorist organization and other extremist groups frequently attacked Israeli civilians inside the 1949 ceasefire lines. The territory that Arafat wanted to “liberate” was Tel Aviv, Haifa and all of Israel within internationally recognized borders.
Israel’s extended hand for peace was systematically met by Arab violence and rejection of Israel’s existence. The construction of Israel’s security barrier in the early 2000s was a direct consequence of Arafat’s decision to reject a peaceful two-state solution and dispatch terrorists to murder civilian Jews inside Israel’s main cities like Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.
Likewise, Israel’s withdrawal from Gaza in 2005 did not lead to peace, but rather to a dramatic increase in terrorism against Israeli civilians.
Human Rights?
Like other self-appointed liberals, Tlaib claims that she is driven by human rights. In reality, Tlaib opposes one of the most fundamental of all human rights for the Jewish people: the right of self-determination.
By supporting the anti-Semitic Boycott Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign, Tlaib joins the ranks of Jew-haters who hypocritically seek the destruction of the Jewish homeland in the name of “human rights.” If Tlaib and other anti-Israel bigots had genuinely cared about human rights, they would have harshly criticized Hamas in Gaza and Fatah in Ramallah for systematically violating fundamental human rights and oppressing their own Arab populations.
The truth is that the so-called one-state solution is simply another anti-Semitic tactic to destroy the Jewish homeland by overwhelming it with millions of alien and hostile Arab “refugees.” Israel yearns for genuine peace. However, as long as the Jewish state’s enemies seek her destruction, peace will remain a pipe dream.
