Our verse is one of the beautiful priestly blessings recited by the Kohanim both in the Temple and, for all time, in our synagogues. We see that our outer countenance reveals our innermost feelings towards one another. When angry, we turn our faces away. Thus, when God “lifts His face” towards us, it symbolizes that God is pleased and ready to bestow His blessings.
