Netanyahu was warmly welcomed in Azerbaijan, a Muslim country eager to boost cooperation with the Jewish state.
Azeri President Ilham Aliyev, who enthusiastically welcomed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Baku on Tuesday, expressed optimism about the growing ties between his country and Israel, noting that Azerbaijan had already purchased close to $5 billion worth of defense equipment over the years.
Netanyahu, who traveled to the Far East, Latin America and Africa to strengthen global ties, also celebrated the increasing cooperation and prosperity resulting from Israel’s excellent relationship with Azerbaijan.
The Israeli leader left for Kazakhstan after spending six hours in Baku, where he also visited a Jewish school. The Jewish community is a very active part of our Azeri society, Aliyev said.
In this video, note the warm, friendly atmosphere during the meeting, which is clearly sincere.
