A security guard was seriously wounded at the Jerusalem Central Bus Station Sunday when a Palestinian man stabbed him in the chest. The stabber, a 24-year-old resident of Judea and Samaria, was tackled on the spot by bystanders and detained by security and intelligence forces.
Closed-circuit footage of the incident, which occurred at 2:20 pm, shows the Palestinian man removing his jacket for a routine security inspection. As he places the jacket on the inspection table he suddenly pulls out a hidden knife and lands one clean blow with the knife to the security guard’s upper body before fleeing on foot.
Roi Brikashvilli, an eyewitness, told Tazpit Press Service (TPS) that he saw the terrorist pull out a knife at the entrance to the Central Bus Station and stab a security guard before other security guards and civilians grabbed the assailant and held him down.
“Security guards, soldiers and civilians hit him in the head, grabbed him and his knife fell to the ground. Everyone reacted really quickly,” Brikashvilli said.
Shaare Zedek Medical Center said in a release that the victim is in critical condition. He is in a coma and is on artificial respiration.
