A study of the individual words in a language and of the the ways their meanings develop, lights up the past of the people, the conditions under which they lived and reflects its morality and ethical life. What a revealing thing it is to observe that the same word in Hebrew, צדקה – tzedaka, which literally means charity, should also mean justice.
