Israeli students participating at international competitions in physics and chemistry proved that Israel is a leading force in these fields when they claimed several medals and accolades.

Israelis competing in International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) held in Lisbon, Portugal, earlier this month claimed two gold medals and three silvers.

Students competing in the chemistry Olympics in chemistry in the Czech Republic and Slovakia went home with one silver medal and one bronze.

“The heart fills with pride,” stated Minister of Education Naftali Bennett. “These students are the beautiful face of Israel’s youth.

“These youth are Israel’s technological future,” he tweeted.

Israelis are among the most educated in the developed world, a 2015 report by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) shows.

According to the report, Israel is above the OECD average in academics among every age group.
