The Israeli Air Force (IAF) on Wednesday hosted a virtual forum for air force commanders from around the world, to exchange ideas about how to run military operations during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Led by IAF commander Maj. Gen. Amikam Norkin, the forum was attended by air force commanders from Italy, the United States, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands, Greece, Norway, Spain, France, Cyprus and Croatia.

The objective of the online forum was to share knowledge between the militaries on managing units and maintaining operational competence during the coronavirus crisis.

The commanders exchanged ideas and know-how accumulated during the past weeks and shared the patterns of action that they operate with to keep their squadrons clean of the virus.

The IAF has enacted rigid segmenting within its units to ensure that if one member is found to be infected with the virus, the effect on colleagues is minimal.

“The Air Force will continue to carry out operational and international collaborations routinely and during a time of emergency to protect the State of Israel,” the IAF stated Thursday.

The IAF routinely hosts and collaborates with other air forces from several countries.
