II KINGS 22:8

One of the most wicked kings to rule over the Land of Israel during the time the Holy Temple stood was Manasseh. Throughout his reign, he “did what was evil in the eyes of Hashem”. One of most terrible deeds was that of systematically destroying all the Torah scrolls and alienating the people from the Torah to the extent that they were completely unfamiliar with its teachings, according to Radak. Sixty-seven years later, under the rulership of the new king Josiah, the high priest Hilkiah was shocked to find a Torah scroll and he excitedly brought it to the scribe to examine for any imperfections. The alacrity with which the high priest brought the Torah to the scribe so that they could proceed to resurrecting the ancient text showed a high level of commitment and love over God’s Torah.
