In Jacob’s final request on his deathbed, he adjures his twelve sons to bury him in the holy Cave of Machpela in Hebron. Fearing that during their stay in Egypt they may have forgotten the cave, Jacob describes (in v. 30) its exact location and its importance as the burial place of the Patriarchs and Matriarchs. The Cave of Machpela is engraved on the heart of the Jewish nation to this day.
