‘Enough of this Diaspora-Think,’ Netanyahu States

Israel is a strong and proud country, and only with a determined response can it gain the respect of other nations, the Israeli leader stated.

“Israel is a country with national pride, and we do not turn the other cheek,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said amid criticism by opposition leaders that his response to countries that joined in the anti-Israel vote at the UN last Friday was too harsh.

Speaking in Maalot-Tarshiha in northern Israel Monday at a ceremony launching the Socio-Economic Development Plan for the Galilee, the Israeli leader said that his response was natural for a healthy nation, clarifying to the world that it will not accept diplomatic assaults at the UN, particularly from supposed allies.

“I tell you that there is no diplomatic wisdom in being ingratiating. Not only will our relations with the nations of the world not be harmed, over time they will only improve because the nations of the world respect strong countries that stand up for themselves and do not respect weak ingratiating countries that bow their heads…

“Enough of this Diaspora-think,” he said, referring to 2,000 years of Jewish timidity among the nations of the world before the establishment of the State of Israel.

Under my leadership Israel is a strong and proud nation. We will continue to defend our state and we will develop the country,”  he asserted.
