Hamas official praises left-wing protests in the West
In a recent interview, senior Hamas terrorist Ghazi Hamad praised anti-Israel protests in Western countries, rejected any possibility of peace with Israel, and glorified the October 7 terrorist attack against Israeli civilians. The interview, conducted by a pro-Palestinian organization, revealed Hamas’s increased commitment to violence and rejection of Israel’s right to exist.
On June 29, 2024, Masar Badil (the Palestinian Alternative Revolutionary Path Movement) live-streamed a webinar interview with Hamas political bureau member Ghazi Hamad. The video of the webinar was posted the next day on Masar Badil’s Odysee account and embedded on its website. The interview was in Arabic with simultaneous translation into English.
Masar Badil, or the Palestinian Alternative Revolutionary Path Movement, is an anti-Israel, pro- Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) NGO headed by Khaled Barakat, who is also affiliated with the Samidoun Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network. According to numerous sources, Barakat is a senior member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), designated as a terrorist organziation by many countries. Barakat is barred from entering the U.S. and Germany.
The interview, titled “Al-Aqsa Flood and the Palestinian Resistance Today,” was conducted in Arabic with a live English audio translation. Based on that translation, the following are the main points of the interview as presented in a report by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI).
Hamad framed the October 7 attack as a pivotal moment in the conflict, stating: “The seventh of October is not detached from the general struggle of the Palestinian people, that started in 1917.” He boasted that the attack “turned the tables” on Israel’s security paradigm, claiming: “The military superiority was broken in one day and the resistance was able to break through and confront the Gaza troops and showcase that they could be defeated.”
It should be noted that two weeks after the massacre of over 1,200 Israelis by Hamas, Hamad told Lebanon’s LBC TV that the terror group would continue to carry out massacres like the one it carried out in southern Israel on Oct. 7 until the Jewish state is destroyed.
Celebrating the impact of the October 7 atrocities, Hamad said: “This earthquake that happened on the seventh of October has [had] a very big result.” He praised the attack for bringing “the Palestinian struggle to the center of attention, internationally, in the universities, by the masses.”
Hamad expressed appreciation for anti-Israel protests in Western nations, stating: “We follow very closely what’s happening in the diaspora, and we would see so many reports about the actions and events in Sweden and Spain and France and the U.K. and the U.S. And of course, this is a much appreciated effort, and it was very effective.”
He claimed these protests “were able to affect the political decision-making in these countries” and “created a general pro-Palestine opinion globally.” Hamad called for these efforts to continue, describing them as “very, very important for the Palestinian struggle.”
Notably, Hamad rejected any possibility of peace with Israel, which he referred to as “the occupation.” He declared: “Having peace with Israel is not possible. There is not one Palestinian child who will accept peace with this occupation.” He dismissed past peace efforts, stating: “The capitulations and the negotiations all have not been able to offer the Palestinian people any kind of solutions.”
Hamad also made clear Hamas’s rejection of Israel’s legitimacy and right to exist, stating: “We will never accept anything less than the historical Palestine. We do not believe in a two-state solution. We will never recognize Israel.” He described Israel as “an unnatural entity in the region” and a “monstrous regime.”
The Hamas official claimed that Israel’s military operations in Gaza had failed, asserting: “In every single region that they attack and then they leave, the resistance restructures itself and like repositions itself in that region again.” He boasted: “The resistance is still functioning. The leadership of the resistance is still functioning, the steadfastness of the people is still present.”
Regarding Gaza’s reconstruction, Hamad demanded, “It is [the occupation’s] responsibility to pay for this rebuilding.” He estimated the cost at “more than $30 or $40 billion to rebuild the hospitals, the universities, the streets, the homes.”
These statements reveal Hamas’s ongoing commitment to terrorism and violence against Israeli civilians. The terrorist group continues to exploit global protests to further its radical agenda while rejecting any peaceful resolution to the conflict. Hamas’s celebration of the October 7 attacks, which resulted in the murders of over 1,200 Israelis, mostly civilians, demonstrates the organization’s disregard for human life and international law.
The interview highlights the significant challenges Israel faces in protecting its citizens from an organization dedicated to its destruction. It also underscores the need for the international community to reject Hamas’s extremist ideology and support for terrorism unequivocally. The praise for anti-Israel protests in Western countries is particularly concerning, as it suggests these demonstrations may be inadvertently providing support and legitimacy to a terrorist organization committed to violence and the destruction of Israel.
