Israeli students competing in the annual International Mathematical Olympiad in England and the European Physics Olympiads in Georgia earned a combined 11 medals.
“The amazing achievements of Israeli students in the International Olympics are significant news not only for the education system but for the entire Israeli society. These students, through persistence, determination, and hard work, have achieved remarkable successes, giving us hope for a better future,” said Education Minister Yoav Kish.
High school students gathered at the University of Bath to test their knowledge of algebra and calculus, as well as advanced problems involving complex geometry, number theory, and more. The competition ended on Monday.
At the Physics Olympiad, at Kutaisi International University in Georgia, students worked out problems related to mechanics, thermodynamics, and electromagnetism, as well as relativity and quantum physics.
That competition ended on Friday.
The students took home a combined three gold medals, six silver medals, and two bronze medals.
“The impressive achievements of the members of the Israeli national team in the sciences inspire pride and are a source of inspiration for all of us,” said Yarom Ariav, chairman of the Jerusalem-based Future Scientists Center.
“In these complex and challenging days, Israeli students are spreading great light and hope for the future through their achievements, talent, perseverance and determination.”
