Israeli ‘Teddy Bear Care’ Takes Mystery Out of Medical Treatment
By the end of the afternoon, all the teddy bears were sent home with a clean bill of health.

A sports center in the Israeli city of Holon was converted into a “hospital for bears” by Israel’s Magen David Adom emergency response organization on Sunday as children were invited to bring their favorite dolls for a “checkup.”
Not that any of the little bears, bunnies, dogs and dolls were sick. The point was to demystify hospital procedures for small children as their dolls underwent “tests” and “treatment” at various stations.
Boys and girls from kindergarten and lower grades described their favorite doll’s health to medics and accompanied them to an emergency room, a surgery department, an eye department, and more. Along the way, children also got up-close looks at different types of medical equipment and ask questions to the MDA medical staff.
By the end of the afternoon, all the dolls were sent home with a clean bill of health.
