Israeli Foreign Minister: Palestinian Leaders Should Stand Trial in the Hague
The Palestinian Authority should stand trial because it “financially rewards people who murder Jews just because they are Jewish,” said Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen.

Responding to a United Nations (UN) decision to refer the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to the International Court of Justice, Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen said on Monday that the resolution “was another expression of Palestinian hypocrisy, since in the past 75 years they rejected every peace accord offered to them.”
The resolution was passed by the UN General Assembly on Friday by a vote of 87-26 with 53 abstentions. The Palestinians see it as a first test for the government of Benjamin Netanyahu.
Jerusalem anticipates that a ruling would give legal cover to the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign against Israel.
Cohen added, “The ones who should stand trial are the Palestinian leadership, since the Palestinian Authority is the only entity in the world that financially rewards people who murder Jews just because they are Jewish. The International community must send a clear message to the Palestinian leadership: enough with the incitement in Palestinian schools and enough with funding murderers of Jews.”
Cohen also addressed the future of the Abraham Accords, saying, “The expansion of the Abraham Accords is not a question of ‘if’, rather of ‘when.’”
Netanyahu has previously stated that a peace accord with Saudi Arabia is a top priority for his government.
“The Abraham Accords changed the Middle East dramatically,” said Cohen. “During the past year the trade between Israel and our new partners exceeded the $2.8 billion. In addition, the accords had a very significant positive effect on the national security of all parties involved, and on regional stability.”
On the issue of Iran, Cohen said, “Israel is the only member country of the UN that another member country is calling for its destruction. We are obliged to prevent military nuclear capabilities form Iran in every means necessary.”
He added, “A consensus is emerging that the JCPOA is no longer relevant, therefore we will focus on strengthening our independent defense capabilities, while simultaneously working to establish an international front to stop Iran’s nuclear program. The world must stop burying its head in the sand regarding Iran.”
