Serpent slithers on Sea of Galilee
A snake was seen swimming in the Sea of Galilee on Monday.
The serpent is associated with the being that convinced Adam to eat from the the Tree of knowledge:
Now the serpent was the shrewdest of all the wild beasts that Hashem had made. He said to the woman, “Did Hashem really say: You shall not eat of any tree of the garden?” (Genesis 3:1)
The Sea of Galilee is the body of water where Jesus is said to have walked on.
Although the type of snake was not identified, Israel is home to 42 different species, with a range of habitats in a small area. The Jewish state hosts species from Asia, Africa, and Europe. Nine are venomous, and just two species, the Palestine viper, Israel’s national snake, and the Lebanese viper, can be found in northern Israel, where the Sea of Galilee is located. The others live in the desert.
