A public diplomacy analyst explains the “window of opportunity” in Brazil that Israel should grab while it has the chance.
Davidi Hermelin, president of The International Center For Public Diplomacy, explains the “window of opportunity” for Israel that exists now in Brazil since the recent election of President Jair Bolsonaro.
According to Hermelin, the possibility remains that a government hostile to the Jewish state could be elected in a few years. He suggests, therefore, that Israel grab the opportunity to strengthen relations with the Brazilian people ahead of such a scenario.
Asked about the red-carpet treatment that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu received in Brazil, Hermelin, admittedly a Likud party member, states that the Israeli premier is recognized across the globe as the greatest leader in the democratic world.
