Pilgrims Abound: 2018 Passes Record for Tourism

The Ministry of Tourism announced that on Friday, Israel set a new record for tourism. The previous all-time record set in 2017 was 3.6 million tourists. This follows a record set in October for the most visitors to Israel in one month of nearly half a million. This broke the previous all-time incoming tourism set in April 2018 by almost 20 percent. An increase of tens of percent in incoming tourism over the past two years has placed Israel among the world’s fastest-growing countries in tourism.

The Tourism Ministry expects the number of visitors to the Holy Land to exceed four million by the end of the year, with the domestic tourism industry already benefiting from $4.85 billion in revenue since January.  The 70th anniversary of the founding of the Jewish state no doubt will add to the year’s total.
