Palestinians are furious at Trump, “warning” about the ramifications of his decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of the “occupation.”
Protesters in the Palestinian-administered territories, Gaza and Lebanon are demonstrating in fury, many with violence, over US President Donald Trump’s official recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of the State of Israel.
As one protester warned, the administration is “playing with fire” and the Palestinians will respond with “twice the strength.”
The US “finally acknowledge[s] the obvious: that Jerusalem is Israel’s capital. This is nothing more or less than a recognition of reality. It is also the right thing to do. It’s something that has to be done,” Trump stated at the White House on Wednesday.
Israel’s leadership, including the major opposition parties and the mayor of Jerusalem, and Jews around the world celebrated Trump’s statement.
