The book of Leviticus contains the list of curses that will be brought upon the People of Israel if they fail to follow the commandments of God. God promises to exile the people from the Promised Land, and to destroy the land itself, if His children’s sins become too great. Following these curses, however, God promises that He will never give up on his people and that there will be an ultimate redemption. In this verse, He promises that he will remember not only the people of Israel but the Land of Israel as well. He will return His chosen people to the chosen Land, and the Land itself will flourish. Indeed, the Land of Israel is flourishing today.
