Netanyahu: Abbas's Party Praised Killers of Policewoman as "Martyrs", World Must Stop Them

World leaders must not only condemn Palestinian terrorism but must also demand that the Palestinian Authority put an immediate end to payouts to the families of the perpetrators of terrorist attacks, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu told his cabinet minister Sunday at their weekly meeting.

“I call on the countries of the world to condemn both the murder and those who praise it, and demand the immediate cessation of Palestinian Authority payments to the families of terrorists, something that only encourages terror,” Netanyahu said.

The prime minister’s comments came after Friday night’s terror attack in Jerusalem in which a 23-year-old female Border Police officer, Hadas Malka, was killed in a coordinated double stabbing and shooting attack. The three Palestinian perpetrators were shot dead by police.

Following the attack, claimed by the Islamic State – a claim disputed by Hamas and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine – PA President Mahmoud Abbas’ ruling Fatah faction issued a statement condemning Israel for the “crimes of the occupation against three young Palestinians.”

Netanyahu told the cabinet that instead of condemning the attack, Fatah praised the murderers as heroes.

“It seems that mendacity and brazen gall know no bounds,” Netanyahu said. “Of course, the Palestinian Authority is refusing to condemn the murder and the same Authority will now pay financial compensation to the murderers’ families.

The prime minister said that security forces were continuing their operations in the district village of Deir Abu Mash’al and were preparing to demolish the homes of the three terrorists, Adel Hasan Ahmad Ankoush, Baraa Ibrahim Salih Taha, and Osama Ahmad Dahdouh.  Netanyahu added that permits approved for Palestinian visits in Israel for Ramadan had been revoked and that he had instructed the police to reinforce security arrangements procedures in the plaza around Damascus Gate, where the attacks occurred.

Netanyahu also sent his condolences to the Malka’s family.

“Their grief is our grief; their sorrow is that of the entire nation,” Netanyahu said. “She fell in the line of duty in a determined struggle against bloodthirsty terrorists.”
