1967 Six Day War

This week Israelis celebrate the jubilee anniversary of the reunification of Jerusalem during the Six Day War. But why did Israel launch that war?

In 1948, during Israel’s War of Independence, the surrounding Arab nations attacked the fledgling Jewish state. Among them was Jordan, which captured the Old City of Jerusalem.

Nineteen years later, Israel launched a war of defense against the Arab states bent on its destruction and achieved a stunning, miraculous victory, including the liberation of Jerusalem.

But why did Israel go to war in 1967?

This video explains the entire background, including the details of the profound threat that faced the State of Israel.
